Bay Point Bulkhead Design & Construction

Bay Point Harbour Condo Association

Bay Point, New Jersey

Design and Installation of

450’-0”± of bulkhead

W.J. Castle, P.E. & Associates, P.C. had previously performed the underwater inspection and “spot” repairs to the original bulkhead located at the Condo Association. Due to the extent of deterioration, undermining, and loss of fill found, CASTLE was retained in 2006 to design a new bulkhead system to replace approximately 450’-0” of the existing deteriorated bulkhead. Our design consisted of steel H-piles with composite sheeting, which was install in front of the existing bulkhead.

Upon completion of design and details, Hydro-Marine Construction Co., Inc. was retained to perform the actual construction of the new bulkhead. Due to the location of Condo units along the bulkhead, all work had to be done from our barge anchored in front of the bulkhead. All work was completed by January 2007, including installation of top rail, tie rods, and all backfill.
